SHINE on Saturday @ Tom Hood
The grant recipient

Tom Hood is an Extended Service secondary school in the London borough of Waltham Forest. It has built up a wide range of out-of-school-hours activities and serves a diverse community with high levels of deprivation and low educational aspirations.
The programme
SHINE @ Tom Hood is for 60 students from year 7 (11-12 year olds) at the school. The core target group is students not achieving the nationally expected level for their age on entry to the school.

- 22 students recorded over 90% attendance
- a strength of this project is the engagement of students in learning, particularly in practical lessons
The funding
SHINE has made a grant to part-fund set-up and running costs. Additional funding for project management is provided in-kind by the school.
